Mediaphyter is the online moniker I chose for myself when I was a neophyte public relations girl fighting to spread the word to journalists worldwide. The name just stuck.

My writing career started at age nine when my grandmother excitedly posted my A-grade King of the Wind book report on her refrigerator. She knew then that I had something and who was I to argue? Since then I’ve worn many writing hats, most prominently as the lead on my eighth grade “Fifteen Years Hence” prediction paper. I’ve also served eager readers as an obituary writer, a weather page designer, a crime scene reporter, a commercial real estate reporter, a community news writer, a freelance music reviewer and a copy editor. At the end of it all, I became a flack — and a damn good one. Though I’m not really a flack anymore; more of a communications strategist. But I’m still damn good.

This blog is a travelogue (a bloglogue, if you will) of my exploration of this silly little Web 2.0 and my self-education around how social media and social networking apply to communications and business — specifically in the network security arena. Pepper in some commentary about music, hockey, improvisational comedy and other rants and you’ve got a blog worth reading.

Enjoy.
